and now.....
ON TO THIS WEEK'S CHALLENGE!!!

Today (January 15th) is Civil Rights Activist Martin Luther King, Jr's birthday. We bring you a special song in honor of this advocate of peace and unity! The song is "Stand By Me," and it's a special version done by a group called "Playing For Change." Take a look at the video and we hope you will agree that it's an inspiring version of a classic song. We had a great time scrapping with it and hope you will too! You can click on the widget in the sidebar to read the lyrics.

Our sponsor this month is our very own Jeanet Kuiper with this awesome prize:

Everyone who participates in either of January's challenges gets their name put in the hat, and at the end of the month we will randomly draw a winner of this fabulous prize! Remember, if you participate in both challenges your name will get put in the hat twice!!!

And now, on to the design team inspiration layouts for "Stand By Me..."

We recently went on our first trip together as a family. It's nice to enjoy this time when our daughter still reaches for our hands to walk together...

Michelle...
The chorus of this song reminds me so much of our kids, and how much I love it that they continue to hang out together as they get older. The journaling tells the story.

My inspiration were the lyrics. I know the song from the movie "Stand by me" which I love, so it´s a little bit different to this version. But I had to think of the stary night at the beach immediately when reading the lyrics.

We just got home from our vacation in San Francisco, CA. I felt a little sad after we got home, because Katie is going to college next year, and we may never have the chance to take a vacation like this again. This song inspired me to use some of the photos from our trip with the hope that Katie and Anne will always stand by each other!

"When I thought about the song it made me think about my son's 1st day of kindergarten this year. Even though he was excited and ready... he still needed us to stand by him and hold his hand until it was time to go down the hallway with his teacher. He did so well, no tears, wanted to go back and still loves it!"

I think we all need someone to stand by us throughout our lives!

Now it's YOUR TURN! What inspires you about this song? Show us in a scrapbook layout, art journal page, or any other creative project!!!

To be eligible to win this challenge and have your layout hang in the STM Hall of Fame, remember to link us up to your layout by leaving a comment below (we are having technical issues with Mr. Linky at this time).
